Summer Environmental Educator Job Description

Position: Summer Environmental Educator
Location: Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary
Term: June through August

Summary of Position:

Environmental Educators will work closely with the Program Director to implement effective environmental education programs at our facility. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement effective environmental education programs.
  • Teach a variety of natural and cultural history programs to youth.
  • Assist in logistics for programs, including registration, supervision of campers, set-up, and general clean up.
  • Assist as needed with the operation of the nature store, kitchen chores, general maintenance, trail work and overall operations on a day-to-day basis.
  • Utilize skills and interests to develop a project at Hunt Hill such as an interpretive display, posters, trail guides, or programs.
  • Maintain health and safety of all participants.

Requirements:

  • Experience teaching natural history/environmental education programs
  • Interest in nature, the outdoors and working with youth
  • Enthusiastic and dependable
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Lifeguard and 1st aid certification or willingness to become certified

Benefits:

  • Base salary of $225 a week with possible increase based on experience
  • Room and board provided – plus a $ food allowance when meals are not available through residential camps
