Language Immersion
Spanish Immersion Camp | Swedish Language Camp
“Because of the interest of my family in international affairs and in the tolerance which makes for peace, not only within each nation, but between nations, it is my hope that the Society will, as its plans develop, encourage international participation in the activities at Hunt Hill, thus promoting such interchange of ideas as tends to further international understanding the spread through the world of true conservation practices.” Frances Andrews in a letter to the National Audubon Directors in 1954.
In an effort to fulfill Frances’ wishes, Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary offers 3 weeks of Language Immersion camps during the summer. Our camps teach participants about the language, culture and history of the language speakers in an attempt to “further international understanding.”
Hunt Hill offers one week of Swedish camp in June and two weeks of Spanish camp in August. Week one of Spanish Immersion is for Beginners/Intermediate level and week two is for Intermediate/Advanced level students. Instructors in all camps are native language speakers. Campers will enjoy native foods, language lessons, nightly cultural presentations and celebrations.
Whether you are looking to learn more about your heritage, pick up a new language or brush up, these camps are a fun and relaxed way to learn about two very interesting cultures.
