DESCRIPTION:Little Explorers is an exciting morning of stories\, crafts\, songs\, and nature activities geared towards 3–6 year olds at Hunt Hill; though all ages are welcome! Every program starts in the Lower Level of the Richard Grand Recreation Hall at Hunt Hill Nature Center\, unless otherwise noted. Guardians must stay for the duration of the program\, and each program will feature a different nature theme. Depending on weather\, we will be outside for a portion of this program. Please dress appropriately to be inside and outside in the weather. \nMarch is all about spring and the new life that emerges this season. Explorers will learn about animal babies\, their habitats\, and the ways parents care for them. We will read Mama Built a Little Nest by Jennifer Ward\, then the children will create their own one-of-a-kind nests! \nProgram Fee: Free\, but donations are appreciated.\nLocation: Meet at Lower Level of Richard Grand Recreation Hall\, Hunt Hill Nature Center\nRegistration is not required\, but strongly encouraged. Our volunteers are vital to our success and this is a key example of their dedication. Volunteers are needed to help clean\, organize\, wash\, wipe and rake-up camp. All ages and skill levels are invited. \nAll volunteers are provided with a continental breakfast and treated to a lunch featuring soup\, sandwich\, beverages and treats. You do not need to RSVP\, but we appreciate registration in advance to help us plan food quantities appropriately. \nSchedule:\n7:45am – 8:30am: Continental Breakfast served in the Rec Hall\n8:00am – 8:15am: Welcome and Task Sign up in the Rec Hall\n8:15am – 8:30am: Meet with Lead and Volunteers for your chosen task to make a plan.\n8:30am – 12:00pm: Work on Tasks. Join us on June 13 at 10 A.M at the museum in Spooner for a morning of learning and adventure. We will read One Dog Canoe by Mary Casanova\, then enjoy a guided museum tour led by Alexis as we explore different canoe types\, parts of a canoe\, and the history behind them. Kids will rotate through interactive stations where they will practice paddling skills\, build their own mini canoes\, and learn about animals that live along our local rivers. Each child will earn a Junior Canoe Explorer badge after completing the experience. SUMMARY:Youth Day Camp: Wild Waters
DESCRIPTION:Youth summer day camps have been a long-standing tradition at Hunt Hill! Our day camps typically feature environmental-themed learning activities\, games\, swimming\, and crafts in small\, age-appropriate groups. Camps are interactive and led by a team of trained and enthusiastic educators. Day camps are Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to 4:00pm\, with camper drop-off starting at 8:30am. \nWeek 3: Wild Waters! \nEnjoy everything water this week! Campers will get to fish\, canoe\, pond\, slip and slide\, play a variety of water-themed games\, and learn about our local aquatic animals. \nRegistration Information: Registration is required\, and space is limited. Day Camp registration will open in February 2026 with early access to Hunt Hill FAMILY and STUDENT members. SUMMARY:Wisconsin Master Naturalist Training
DESCRIPTION:Wisconsin Master Naturalist training is a stimulating week of classroom and fieldwork with people interested in life-long learning\, nature\, ecology\, and conservation issues. On-site overnight accommodations are available for participants through Hunt Hill’s website. \nRegistration will open on January 12\, 2026 through Wisconsin Master Naturalist.  Space is limited and fills FAST. \nMaster Naturalist training is a 40-hour series of sessions and field experiences that presents a consistent\, statewide perspective on Wisconsin’s natural resources\, ecological processes\, and conservation issues. They are offered across the state through trained partner organizations. Although each training varies based on the location\, field experiences and guest experts\, key concepts remain consistent from training to training. Learn more about what’s covered in each of our Master Naturalist trainings. \nTo synthesize and implement their knowledge\, participants will work in small groups to complete a small training project related to education/interpretation\, stewardship\, or citizen-science. The training project is a fun\, low-stakes opportunity to try out volunteer activities in a supportive environment. \nDetails: \n\nThe participant fee is $300 and includes all materials.\nRoom & Board: $400/week\nNeed-based scholarships are available.\nAttendance is essential. Only four hours of training may be missed.\nOpen to adults 18 years of age and older.\nIt’s a fun and motivational learning environment!\n\nRoom & Board at Hunt Hill Nature Center for Wisconsin Master Naturalist Training is highly encouraged for ALL participants.
